The basic make up of every yoga class are the different poses (asanas) that we engage in. Some of these are basic, like downward dog and child’s pose, while others are more advanced, think Peacock or Firefly pose.
For every yoga pose that we do, it’s important that we learn to do them the right way. This ensures a good practice and also makes sure that we get the full physiological benefits of yoga. It also ensures that we don’t hurt ourselves.
I hope that the explanations of these few poses gives you a better understanding of the anatomy of basic yoga poses. This is only a starting point however, and there are so, so many more asanas to learn and incorporate into your yoga practice. Remember when you do each pose to pay attention to your form and how your body feels.
